Another week gone

Well, I'm happy to report that this week has managed to stay pretty much on plan (hallelujah). Monday and Tuesday I got back into the studio to finish off colouring the Snatchabook series and I'm relieved and ecstatic to finally be able to say it's done and dusted. Over ten and a half hours of colouring went into the finished pieces and I'm so very proud of the finished effect.

I'd come into this knowing it was going to be a test of my ability and I was truly nervous that I wouldn't be able to pull it off but looking at the finished photos I think I achieved what I'd set out to. The Caterpillar images are meant to look almost illustrated but the Snatchabook series needed to move away from the picture book style and be a more realistic representation. In my head I'd wanted muted, warm, desaturated colours and I've striven to transfer this idea to the actual prints.

The video below shows the finished images (again best viewed in HD).

Looking forward, I'm thinking about what is needed for the third and final shoot. In some ways this will be the most simplistic as there aren't too many physical elements to it. However, I'm going to predict now that the ambiance and atmosphere will be tough to get right.

With a little under a month to go it's going to be a push to sort as for two of those weeks I have no access to college. Because of this, planning will be key.

I'm also debating whether or not to produce a film documenting the whole process. I think in years to come it will be a nice reminder to look back on but I honestly don't know if I can produce both images and a film simultaneously. On top of that there are my other modules to consider, as well as sorting out a framer, the exhibition, work and family life.

Still, at least life isn't boring lol.
